5 benefits of attending a Muslim Women’s Retreat
What do you feel as you walk through the door of a Muslim women’s retreat? We design retreats for Muslim women, by Muslim women which offer a space that is curated to understand your needs. It’s much more than halal food and a prayer space. Instead, it’s a community that sees you for who you are, understands a busy lifestyle and wanting to slow down. Here, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to be in tune with yourself and Allah.
We live in a loud world. A world that thrives on capitalist consumption and keeps us in the cycle of wanting more.
Anas bin Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If the son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would want to have two valleys. Nothing fills his mouth but the dust of the grave, yet Allah will relent to whoever repents to Him.”
This desire for more is driven, in part, by our access to social media apps. The increase of consumption driven hauls fill our screens, fast fashion is at our fingertips and we’re pressured to constantly work for material goods or a higher standard of luxury living.
From the clothes that we wear, to the food and drink we consume, we are encouraged to strive for more. Brands increasingly resort to audacious tactics to capture and keep our attention.
Is it any wonder that our hearts might be feeling slightly disconnected? When rejecting this culture can leave us feeling inadequate and comparing our lives unfavourably to others, who we’ve never met and know very little about, we may find it easiest to engage in trends, to understand popular culture references to help us fit in with others and perhaps it is too much of a pull to resist.
But when we do take a step back to look at what Allah has bestowed upon us, we should be left with feelings of gratitude and awe.
If you tried to count Allah’s blessings, you would never be able to number them. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful (Quran 16:18).
How then, should we step back, tune away from social media and tune into our relationship with Allah in a meaningful and sustained way? Furthermore, how should we cultivate gratitude and God-consciousness in our hearts in the microcosm of our daily lives? One such idea is attending a Muslim Women’s Retreat, a space curated for and by Muslim women who understand you, your challenges and what your heart is seeking.
What are the benefits of attending a Muslim Women’s Retreat?

1. A nourishing and safe space
You will find a space that feels nourishing, safe and helps you to connect to Allah. No second-guessing intentions or bad vibes. In this space, we’re all on the same mission to love Allah and feel close to Him.
We curate soulful sessions including building your love of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, reflections on the seerah which offer us a space to relate to our Beloved, Quran reading and journalling. These sessions are designed to be heart-opening, transformative, grounding and offer a non-judgemental space to grow in your faith.
“This retreat was a wonderful opportunity to get out of my regular routine and focus on my relationship with Allah. I thought I would be intimidated by being around so many people I didn’t know. But being around a community of sisters all there to connect with Allah was truly enriching.” – A testimonial from our last Muslim women’s retreat.
2. Worship in community
The opportunity to worship collectively, with your fellow sisters is a true blessing. This is especially the case when we consider that many mosques in the UK still struggle with providing a space for Muslim women.
There’s something healing about congregational prayer, taking time to intentionally recite your morning and evening adhkar, building a tahajjud habit and sitting with other women.
At a Ta Collective retreat, these are moments we build into the programme and a central part of our mission to help you love Allah.
“Being together in community made practicing Islam feel joyful again. I struggled to do things like Tahajjud on my own, but having it timetabled and shared with sisters made it something I looked forward to.” – a testimonial from our last Muslim women’s retreat.
3. New habits
Building new habits alone can be tough and motivating yourself isn’t always easy. But building new habits with other Muslim women is a beautiful experience. From spending time outdoors and reflecting on the beauty of Allah’s creation, to building your dhikr habit, learning new ways to connect to Allah or carving out minutes each day to read a verse of the Quran, our retreats make this a beautiful part of your daily routine.
We curate these sessions to be encouraging, easy and manageable so that you can leave the retreat with a sincere intention to keep these up and build on them.
4. Time to rest
We are often told by the women in our community that they pour into so many people around them. From preparing meals for their children, to helping their parents with administrative chores, to taking on additional unpaid labour at work and so much more.
It’s okay to come to a Ta Collective Muslim Women Retreat feeling a bit depleted or tired. We build in time to rest and pause, as we know that you can’t pour from an empty cup.
Entering our space means being cared for, nourished with healthy and healing foods which treads lightly on the planet and doesn’t leave you feeling sluggish.
5. Making new friends
Making friends as an adult isn’t always easy, we get it. And making friends who have the same purpose as you, want to thrive to be closer to Allah and know you is even harder.
One of the most beautiful things we have witnessed at our retreats is female friendship. Watching this develop over the course of a weekend at a retreat is truly the epitome of girlhood. From exchanging numbers to arranging meet ups and checking in on the group chat, we’re here for all of it!
Previous retreaters are still in touch and we arrange reunions post-retreat to keep the magic of our shared experience alive.
“The Ta retreat simply felt like an answered dua. A dua I made to Allah to connect me with likeminded sisters, increase me in knowledge of benefit, and open my heart to His presence, mercy and provision.” – Asma, an attendee at our last retreat
